Saline County Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest Man During North Broadway Traffic Stop

On November 26 at approximately 11:23 a.m., a Saline County deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Broadway. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Axel Refugio of Salina, was initially stopped for not wearing a seat belt. During the stop, deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

An investigation revealed marijuana, scales, baggies, and other drug paraphernalia inside the car. Refugio was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, actual distribution of marijuana, and aggravated endangering of a child, as a seven-year-old male passenger was present in the vehicle.

The vehicle involved was a silver, four-door 2011 Toyota Corolla. Deputies continue to review the case as part of their ongoing investigation.
