Salina Police Investigating Vehicle Theft Reported at Hilton Garden Inn Parking Lot
Salina Police are investigating the theft of a 2009 Chevy Silverado reported at 6:30 a.m. on December 1 from the Hilton Garden Inn parking lot. The vehicle, valued at approximately $25,000, was later recovered in McPherson County.
According to police, the Silverado was located with two adults and one juvenile inside. The recovery occurred after the vehicle was identified through an NCIC (National Crime Information Center) entry. No charges have been filed at this time, and the identities of the occupants have not yet been verified.
A .38 Special Taurus revolver that was inside the vehicle at the time of the theft was also reported stolen.
During the meeting, officers emphasized general safety recommendations, including avoiding leaving vehicles unattended while warming up, using remote start systems that prevent vehicle movement, and securing firearms properly, particularly during hunting season when firearm thefts increase.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to confirm the identities of those involved and determine the appropriate jurisdiction for any potential charges.
