Kansas Crop Progress Report: Winter Wheat Condition Strong, Cotton and Sunflower Harvests Behind Schedule
MANHATTAN, Kan. - For the week ending December 7, 2025, Kansas farmers had 4.8 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Topsoil moisture supplies rated 4% very short, 14% short, 75% adequate, and 7% surplus.
Subsoil moisture supplies rated 8% very short, 18% short, 70% adequate, and 4% surplus.
Winter wheat condition rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 25% fair, 59% good, and 11% excellent.
Cotton harvested was 65%, well behind 86% last year and 87% for the five-year average. Sunflowers harvested was 85%, behind 97% last year and 99% average.
Pasture and range conditions rated 5% very poor, 8% poor, 28% fair, 52% good, and 7% excellent.
This publication marks the last weekly Crop Progress report issued for the 2025 season.
The USDA extended appreciation to county FSA and extension staff who supplied information for these reports.
Monthly reports will be issued from December through February, with weekly reports resuming in early March for the 2026 season.
