Trout Stocking Begins at Lakewood for Winter Season
The annual winter trout stocking program has begun at a Lakewood, providing fishing opportunities for community members during the colder months.
According to Parks and Recreation officials, the lake received its first trout stocking of the season, with additional deliveries planned throughout winter.
"The lake was stocked with trout," Jeff Hammond, Parks & Rec Director, reported during the Wednesday, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting.
"That was probably the first one done for the year and there's another one done maybe sometime around this time this month."
Hammond explained that the timing of subsequent stockings depends on delivery schedules from the fisheries supplier.
The department anticipates "three to four deliveries over the winter months" to maintain adequate fish populations.
