Salina Fire Department Earns Gold Helmet Recognition for Cancer Registry Participation
The Salina Fire Department has been recognized as a Gold Helmet Department for having their firefighters enrolled in the National Firefighter Registry (NFR) for Cancer.
According to the City of Salina, the NFR represents the largest effort to understand and reduce cancer among U.S. firefighters. The department is now challenging all U.S. fire departments to join the registry.
The registry is open to all U.S. firefighters, including those with or without cancer, active or retired, and both structural and wildland firefighters.
