Police Investigating Conflicting Reports in Alleged Stabbing Incident

Salina police are investigating an incident after officers were dispatched to a local hospital at approximately 8 a.m. following a report from a subject claiming he had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a 38-year-old Salina man who had superficial scratch marks on his arm and did not require medical treatment. The man initially told officers the injuries occurred in an alley near Walnut Street between Third and Fourth Streets, where he claimed he had given food and money to two unhoused men who then demanded more. According to the initial report, one of the men allegedly produced a knife and stabbed him.

Officers reviewed available video footage from the area, but found no evidence supporting the initial account. Following the review, officers conducted a follow-up interview with the man, during which he changed his statement and reported the injuries were the result of a domestic altercation with his brother, who is reportedly no longer in the state.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident to verify the circumstances surrounding the injuries and to locate the brother. The investigation remains ongoing.
