Man Arrested Following Alleged Threats Toward School Employee and Police Dispatcher

On January 6 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Salina Police were notified of a threat made toward an employee at Sunset Elementary School. A 29-year-old male school employee reported receiving a phone call from a male subject who called to complain about a parent. During the call, the subject allegedly became irate and threatened to physically assault the school employee.

Officers attempted to locate the suspect at his residence but were initially unable to make contact. Later in the day, the suspect became aware of police activity at his residence and contacted Salina Police dispatch. During that phone call, the suspect reportedly became irate and made threats toward the dispatcher.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., officers located the suspect, identified as Chad Everett, 39, of Salina, at an associate’s residence in the 900 block of Pontiac. Everett was taken into custody. During the arrest and transport, Everett is alleged to have kicked a patrol vehicle door and struck an officer.

Everett was arrested and booked on charges including:

•Criminal threat

•Harassment by telecommunication device

•Battery of a law enforcement officer

Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor. Investigators noted that Everett is not a parent of a student at Sunset Elementary School.

The incident remains under investigation, and additional related charges may be filed.
