Roundabout Planned for Magnolia Road and Virginia Drive Intersection

City officials have announced plans for a new roundabout at the intersection of Magnolia Road and Virginia Drive in Salina.

The roundabout is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area, which includes the development of the 27-acre Magnolia Village residential project on the west side of Virginia Drive, south of Magnolia Road.

During a Planning Commission meeting on January 6, city staff confirmed the roundabout has been finalized and will be constructed at the Magnolia Road and Virginia Drive intersection.

The project is being coordinated with other road improvements in the area, including the extension of Virginia Drive southward.

When asked about potential traffic impacts, city staff noted that the nearest entrance to the Magnolia Village development would be approximately 600 feet west of the planned roundabout, providing adequate separation between the two.

"Engineering has already looked at this project in conjunction with the roundabout project," a city staff member explained during the meeting.

The roundabout is one of several infrastructure improvements planned for the area. The Virginia Drive extension is currently under review by city staff, though specific construction timelines for both projects were not disclosed at the meeting.

The improvements are being coordinated with the development of Magnolia Village, a 250-unit residential complex that received final development plan approval from the Planning Commission at the same meeting.
