Salina Public Schools Recognizes “You Make a Difference” Award Recipients

Eight staff members from Salina Public Schools were recognized with the district’s “You Make a Difference” awards during the January 13, 2026, Board of Education meeting.

The awards honor staff members who are nominated by colleagues for their positive impact on students, families, and the district’s mission. Board of Education members surprise recipients during their workday by presenting them with a lapel pin and a handwritten note.

“We’re grateful for the dedication and the impact that these staff members make every day for our students, families, and staff,” said Olivia Opat during the presentation.

The January 2026 “You Make a Difference” award recipients are:

Jean Bennett, Building Operator, CKCIE and Opportunity Now

Kristen Crossen, Social Worker, Cottonwood Elementary

Megan Weaver, Para Educator, Cottonwood Elementary

Erica Moyer, Social Worker, Husner Elementary

Jim Allen, Counselor, Salina South High School

Lynn Boxman, Instructional Assistant, Sunset Elementary

Rosie Sichler, Bilingual Assistant, Sunset Elementary
