Salina City Commission Honors Greg A. Bengston for 40 Years of Service as City Attorney
The Salina City Commission unanimously approved a resolution recognizing Greg A. Bengston for four decades of dedicated and distinguished service as City Attorney for the City of Salina.
The resolution, No. 26-8325, was added to the agenda and presented prior to the consent agenda during Monday’s City Commission meeting. The motion was made by Mayor Mike Hoppock, the commission approved the motion by a 5–0 vote.
Bengston has served as Salina’s City Attorney since January 1, 1986, providing legal counsel to the City Commission and city staff through multiple administrations. According to the resolution, his work included guiding the city through complex legal matters, supporting major community initiatives, and helping ensure Salina upheld high standards of transparency, fairness, and lawful governance.
The resolution noted that Bengston’s counsel has been vital to both the City Commission and city staff, citing his institutional knowledge, steady leadership, and thoughtful approach to public service.
It also recognized his integrity, professionalism, and long-standing dedication to the residents of Salina, stating that he earned the respect and gratitude of colleagues, elected officials, and community members alike.
Following the vote, Bengston was invited forward during the meeting as the resolution was read aloud and formally presented.
The resolution commends Bengston for his extraordinary 40 years of service and extends the city’s gratitude, along with best wishes for health, fulfillment, and happiness in the years ahead.
The resolution was adopted by the governing body of the City of Salina and signed by the mayor on January 26, 2026.
