Kansas Wesleyan Names Aubrey Wilson Volleyball Coach

Aubrey Wilson is returning to Kansas Wesleyan University as the new head women's volleyball coach, the university announced.

Wilson brings coaching experience from multiple programs and a personal connection to KWU—her parents, Cary and Doug Wilson, coached women's volleyball and basketball at the university from 2001 to 2004.

"It is exciting to come back home to the place that brought my family here. It is definitely a full circle moment," Wilson said. "I made many memories at KWU when my parents were coaching; I used to run the halls and spend hours in the gym."

Athletic Director Miguel Paredes said Wilson's familiarity with the program made her an ideal candidate.

"Aubrey's connection to Kansas Wesleyan University gives her a deep appreciation for our tradition and standards," Paredes said. "Her track record of building programs and her enthusiasm for volleyball make her the right person to guide our program forward."

Recent Coaching Success

Most recently, Wilson coached at William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri, where she led the Owls to a 19-12 overall record in their first season in the Heart of America Conference.

Before that, she spent three seasons at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas—one as an assistant and two as head coach. Her 2022 team won the NJCAA Division I Region VI Tournament and competed at the national tournament. Her teams also achieved the highest GPAs among all Seward County athletic programs.

Wilson began her college coaching career at Henderson State University, serving as a graduate assistant for two seasons and an assistant coach for one. The team reached the Great American Conference Tournament all three years.

Distinguished Playing Career

As a player, Wilson earned first-team NJCAA All-American honors and 2015 Jayhawk West Player of the Year recognition at Hutchinson Community College. She later played at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and finished her career at Missouri Baptist University, earning honorable mention All-American Midwest Conference selection.

Wilson holds an associate degree from Hutchinson Community College, a Bachelor of Business Administration from Missouri Baptist, and a master's degree in sports administration from Henderson State.

"I am very grateful for this opportunity," Wilson said. "I look forward to continue to grow this competitive program and am excited to get started."
