Kansas Wesleyan Hires Central High Coach Brandon Stephenson for Men's Volleyball

Brandon Stephenson, who currently leads the volleyball program at Salina's Central High School, has been named the new men's volleyball coach at Kansas Wesleyan University.

Stephenson brings more than 15 years of coaching experience to the Coyotes, most recently spending three seasons at the helm of Cameron University's program. He also serves as a Special Education teacher at Central High, where he manages a full caseload while coaching.

His collegiate coaching resume includes stints at Barton County Community College, Lamar Community College, Highland Community College, Trinity Valley Community College, Bethany College, and Neosho County Community College.

Looking ahead to his first season at KWU, Stephenson outlined a practical approach for building the program.

"This season is just putting the guys together as a team and seeing what we have," Stephenson said. "We will be focusing on ball control, being aggressive with serving, and then go fast tempo offensively, trying to hit high hands with a lot of the blockers being taller in our conference. We just have to try to be us and play our game, our style, control our controllables, and not worry about the other side at all."

The appointment keeps Stephenson in Salina, where he'll balance his teaching duties at Central High with leading the Coyotes' volleyball program.
